Pretty good cheesecake! Many praise it to be the best in New York City located on Cleveland and Kenmare street. (Nolita area) (more…)

I love getting things in pretty boxes, and then finding out it’s edible! (Don’t get me wrong, I also like diamonds, ALL women do!)

But I have to admit, totally unexpected gifts are the best gifts. When you have expectations, you are destined for disappointment. Sad but true.

Macarons are wonderful. They are soft, light, airy, fluffy and crispy from its shell like crust..all in one! The good ones just melt in your mouth. For those who are not up to date, this is a french macaron (in chocolate, pistachio, and passion fruit) different from a macaroon, which is made with mostly coconut.

Thank you my friend, Mr. Apple.

Every day at work, my one value added responsibility is to decide where my group goes for lunch. Nothing special. But today, I was like the devil’s advocate, or the devil on my boss’s shoulder. As we are patiently waiting on the line to order sandwiches, we’re wrapped around the cookies, snacks, and dessert area. My boss picks up one of those healthy Kashi bars that are popularly known as health foods. He’s pretty determined to get it, but I quickly pick up a cherry filled crumb bar and show it to him. It was almost instantaneous that he puts his Kashi bar down and we decided to get the crumb bar. The breaking point was when I said, ” I will eat some too!”. We got it  for a bite to taste. Instead it was so good, we picked at it all day and probably each consumed half of it equally.

Lesson here: Not only do I decide where to go for lunch, sometimes I dictate what we eat too!! Don’t be around me if you are trying to be good on eating healthy. And another point, when people say they just want to try a bite, it almost always fails as “a bite” if the food ends up being good. We all do it…all the time.

I went to Sunrise Mart, a Japanese supermarket in the East Village. They have the cutest packages and snacks!! Check out these mini oreo-like snacks. I figured smaller is better, less consumption, less calories. BUT NO, I was SO SO SO wrong! I ended up eating the entire thing by myself. Those little suckers are addictive.

Another unique and kind of cool snack I came across is this chocolate bar. I got it from a friend who went to the chocolate show this year at the Metropolitan Pavillion on  w. 18th street. They gave out testers to try and you can purchase right there if you’d like. She ended up going home with 10 bars! It’s bacon chocolate with pop rocks and sea salt. It doesn’t sound good at all, BUT I gave it a shot and ended up finishing the bar.  Those different flavors mixed really well together. The pop rocks are cool, the insides of your mouth just fizzles even after devouring the chocolate.

I am really catching on to this concept of sweet and savory products, although, not fully converted. I will not go out and seek for it. If it makes its way to me then I will try it. If it really blows my mind then I will make sure I keep an available inventory of it at home, but that has yet to happen.
