Sunday Food Drive-By

A day in the life of me! HA! Hardly, but a rundown of all the places and foods that I jumped around to today.
Every Sunday at 8am, my parents and their siblings typically go to Bo Ky in Chinatown. It’s a Chiu Chow (city in eastern Guangdong province, China) restaurant, and one of my favorites. I usually get the Seafood noodle soup; thin yellow noodles with soup on the side or the Satay beef thick white noodles. The “Old water duck/chicken” (translated from Chinese) is also another must try here. Other things they do really well is the fish and beef balls. I like to buy the beef balls to go (frozen) for the house.

Second location coming soon (just a few blks away)
Next, I went to the American Lamb Takedown at the Highline Ballroom on 16th str. nr. 9th ave. 20 contestants, 15 pounds of lamb each. Man, there was a shit load of tasting to be done. I have to say that I was more into the presentation of each contestants’ dish then the actual tasting. It was all just so delectable and cute. Everything was mini sized!!

After all that lamb, we sought after dessert and went to a recently opened La Crepe Parisienne in Nolita. Usually the crepes I’ve had in the past are always thin, soft, and wimbley. This crepe was perfect. It was thick but crispy in the edges. I have always wanted that mixture of a crispy and soft crepe. Yum!!

And now for dinner. My family(mom’s side) in Sheepshead, Bklyn organized a dinner. They slaved all day prepping and cooking.

On the way to my uncle’s house for dinner @7pm; crossing the Manhattan Bdge @ 7:15pm…yes, stuck in traffic but gorgeous view and perfect timing w/ sunset!

Tofu skin, chinese mushrooms, & bokchoy

One of everything on my plate…the white blob in the top left middle area, is a giant clam whose shell is bigger than my hands, sprinkled with xo sauce and steamed flat noodles.
Of course, when my Dad’s side of the family get together for dinner, it’s a whole different meal.
