Rocket Joe’s Pizza

It is because of this awesome hole in the wall pizza place that makes me turn away from eating at another pizzeria ever again. Why waste the calories when I know this place is soooooo good?!?!?!?
Everybody knows that 3am pizza tastes awesome ANYWHERE. At that time in the morning, after a night of bar hopping or clubbing, your taste buds are just out of whack. This is exactly what happened the night I first came across Rocket Joe’s. I thought the sesame crusted pizza was the best thing in the world. But then again, that’s not exactly a credible conclusion. So, it was absolutely necessary that I go back to conduct some due diligence. I went to get a slice whilst NOT intoxicated! AND IT WAS STILL AS MIND BLOWING AS IT WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE! I AM SO IMPRESSED!
The texture is perfect. It is crispy on the outside and has just the right amount of tomato sauce to create that thin layer of soft soaked dough-y-ness on top, and melty cheese goodness. Then there’s the famous crust that has sesame seeds sprinkled all over it. IT IS such an amazing taste- light and crispy but bread-y at the same time. There are a million other condiments available for your using pleasure- ie: hot sauce, garlic powder, parmesan, olive oil, etc.
Since then, I refuse to eat pizzeria pizza anywhere else. I’d rather go to Rocket Joe’s or not eat pizza at all. Of course, there are restaurants where they have thin crust pizza that I will eat, but that’s different. It’s a different breed of pizza. And I want to try the famous pizza places in Brooklyn, BUT I won’t eat at any average joe’s pizzeria.
Yes, it sort of makes me a pizza snob. This is what Rocket Joe’s DID to ME! Unfortunately, I also think it’s a hit or miss with this place. Maybe it depends on timing, you’d want to try and get a fresh slice; there’s definitely high volume after 10pm on a weekend night.

Flashy sign! But notice how the sign behind “ATM BEER SMOKE SHOP” stands out w/o the flashy lights!

How many “Rocket Joe” tags can you spot?
