Thanksgiving 2009: Chicas

cover

Every year our group of girlfriends get together for Thanksgiving dinner. This year is, by far, the best and most creative one!! Since it was held a week before the actual date, it will be very hard for the other dinners to outshine this one.

My PA friend makes the turkey every year. This year, she decided to try a deep fried turkey. BELIEVE ALL THE RUMORS YOU HEAR. Deep fried turkey is unbelievably good! Every part of the turkey was so juicy and tender. I even liked the white meat this time. And it doesn’t look as unhealthy as it sounds, so I say go for it!! But the prepping is quite arduous. First, it must be handled with extreme care. It’s dangerous!! So we did it outside in the driveway.

The Bride-to-be made fried bananas wrapped in bacon. I typically do not care for savory & sweet dishes, but lately it seems to be a new trend and it’s not bad. I am totally open-minded about trying it. This was good and such a simple dish! I like!!

One of the chicas and her boyfriend made pork loin in apple sauce and apple pie. BOTH WERE FANTASTIC! The pork loin was soooooo tender that it melts in your mouth. Excellent with the sliced apples from the sauce. The apple pie was perfect. There was a time where I was obsessed with the Caramel Empanadas from Taco Bell. This was similar but 20x better. I must have had 3 servings of it. It was orgasmic! I can’t get over it. And totally worthwhile, though, I did hear that their fire alarms went off in the building and neighbors were not too happy about it. They probably should have given them some food; they would have just fallen in love instead of giving dirty looks.

The Med couple made mac&cheese and whole corn with various toppings. They were late to dinner, but somehow we all found room in our stomachs to eat their food too.. we are a bunch of crazy animals when it comes to eating. Beware…be very aware!

The Designer, who is also the host for every event, made 5 ginormous crabs. They were so big that no plate was big enough to hold them. Instead she put them in a plastic garbage bag on the dinner table. Lovely display, isn’t it?!?!

Bri Bri, the only male in our group, made his famous bbq spare ribs AND bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label. How awesome is he!?!?!?!

The Bestfriend and her boyfriend, made a whole lot of mash potato with cheese bits in it and sausage. But it wasn’t just any sausage. It was topped with parmesan cheese which gave it the extra oomph.

My Soon to be Ex Roommate made stuffed potato, her plus 1 made jambalaya, big boobie chica made Okonomiyaki and the crazy monster eater, also has big boobies, made clams in white wine sauce and winter melon soup.

Rule#1 from manual- Do not operate while intoxicated. What do you think these guys are doing while waiting for the oil to heat up?!?!?!?!
