Wild Edibles!
Seafood in Manhattan that’s not corporate account like expense?!?!?! CHECK. I never thought in a million years that would exist but I found it! Fresh, delicious, AND affordable. I felt like the king of the world ordering unlimited amounts of oysters, fish, scallops, and clams.
I am growing up. My taste buds have matured and loving new things. Up until a few years ago, I was an anything raw virgin. Tried but never liked raw oysters, or raw fish.It was not something that I would get on my own, but would eat it if I had to (like share a plate with someone). Today marks a unprecedented moment, I ordered,on my own, a dozen and a half oysters and wanted more!
The story about this place is interesting. Michael Reynold used to work for Jean Georges and had gone on a trip with him to find exotic foods. Whilst in Maine, Jean Georges made a comment along the lines of if I can find a distributor to get these into Manhattan, I’d be a customer for life. And that’s how he and his brother in law opened up for business selling the finest fish or scallops but not just exclusive products but the freshest seafoods to top chefs and making their way to selling as retail in Grand Central Market (where the best things in the city are in one place). The Murray Hill location is primarily a retail store but turned into a restaurant and now opened for about 3 years. It is one of the best oyster bars I’ve been to in the city and well worth it if you think about quality versus price.
Their full story can be found here.

Three tartares- Tuna, Smoked Salmon, and Sea Bass.

Lump Crab Cake- Remoulade Sauce

Baked Clams- Miso Butter

Oyster Tempura- Seaweed Salad (I could eat this everyday)

It’s the best starter out of the four I’ve tried.

Red Snapper in Fresh Herbs and Extra Virgin Olive Oil w/Mesclun Salad.

Seared Scallops Smoked Onions, Spinach, & Warm Bacon Vinaigrette.

Side of Spicy Jicama Salad (basically turnip I think..I didn’t like it)
I want to eat here again..right now! Actually, just sitting here writing this piece is making me want the Oyster Tempura for breakfast. Maybe they deliver…
FYI- they do not take reservations.
